Everyday the world's poorest children are forced to forsake their education as they strive to meet one of life's most basic needs - food. They often resort to begging, scavenging and criminal activity as a means to provide food for themselves and their families. They miss out on an education, ending up with no way out, caught in the trap of poverty. 

 

But it doesn't have to be this way.

 

For more than 10 years the Khaya Centre has been serving food to the poorest children in their local communities, helping to provide them with the nutrients they need to grow and develop, as well as enabling them to attend school and gain an education. As a result of their feeding programme thousands of children have been helped to stay in education and gain qualifications that will enable them to find employment and ultimately lift themselves out of poverty.
